As a professional photographer, one thing I always stress to my clients is the importance of understanding that no two bodies are the same. While I may have certain poses that I use as a starting point for every session, the end result will always be unique to each individual. This is because everyone has their own unique proportions and features. My focus is to highlight and capture these differences in my work every single time. That means no two session will ever look exactly the same.
During a session with me, you’ll receive lots direction as I work to create beautiful, elegant poses. This may involve arching your back, lifting your chest or tilting the head and chin towards the sky. While these prompts may seem like a lot, I’m right there to walk you through every single step. The resulting images will portray you at your very best and there will be no doubt that we captured the very essence of who you are.
Instead of static posing, I’ll direct you with movement and breathing with create emotional expressions. When you look at your images, you’ll be able to feel and see the vulnerability and freedom in your expression. Of course this isn’t what you’d normally see in the mirror or in your everyday life but it’s the part of you that opened up and decided to honor and celebrate your body.
Posing for photographs can feel awkward or uncomfortable at times, but my job is to guide and support you through the process. I don’t want you worrying about whether you’ll look good in front of the camera or not. Your only focus should be on having a good time–we take care of all the rest.
