Embarking on your sensual yoga journey can be a deeply enriching and expansive experience. There are lots of essentials you can use during your practice but for my sensual yoga classes I like to keep things simple. I also believe it’s important to create a space that nurtures your practice and allows you to feel supported as you explore the intimate connection between your body and mind. Let’s delve into the essentials you’ll need for your sensual yoga journey.
For your convenience, I’ve linked the essentials I own and that are an integral part of my practice each time I roll out my mat.
Yoga Mat: A good quality yoga mat provides a comfortable foundation for your practice. Look for one that offers adequate support and grip to ensure safety during your movements.
Bolster Pillow: Bolster pillows are a must-have for sensual yoga. They provide support during poses, allowing you to relax and deepen into stretches, enhancing the sensuality of the practice. A bolster pillow is especially great for those who have knee issues, tight hips or tight ankles making your practice a gentle and supportive one.
Blankets: Soft, supportive blankets can be used as props for various poses. They offer comfort and can be draped over your body to enhance the sensuality of the experience.
Candles: Soft, ambient lighting can set the mood for your sensual yoga practice. Choose unscented candles to create a serene atmosphere.
Sensuous Attire: Select comfortable, form-fitting attire that allows for ease of movement and that makes you feel good. Feel free to express your femininity through your choice of clothing.
Eye Mask or Blindfold: Introducing the element of touch and sensation can deepen the experience. A soft eye mask or blindfold can help you focus on your body’s sensations, movements and breath work.
Essential Oils: Select oils with soft, inviting scents that promote relaxation. Lightly apply them to pulse points or to a diffuse to enhance your sensory experience.
Journal: Keep a journal nearby to reflect on your sensual yoga journey. Write down your experiences, thoughts, and feelings as you explore movement.
