“My 10 year anniversary was fast approaching. I wanted to do something special and memorable.  Over the years, we have focused on experiences instead of gifts, but this was different–10 years is a milestone. Late last year my girlfriend, Kim, scheduled a session with Veronica. Her pictures were amazing and beautiful and when she told me about her experience, it inspired me to schedule a session.

The week before the session I freaked out because I had done nothing to prepare. I wanted to lose 20 pounds and I had made absolutely zero attempt to buy anything.  My “sexy” underwear was old as hell–none of my bras fit right and I was in over my head. I finally took the time and read through the paperwork Veronica sent with the confirmation email.  Thankfully, she recommended her boudoir partners, Le Bustiere Boutique.  They had EVERYTHING I needed for my session and then some.

On the day of the session, my stomach was on fire.  I doubted myself and I had all these thoughts running through my mind. I had made a mistake, I was too fat to do this shoot.  But I pulled up to Veronica’s studio and she greeted me with a warm smile and I felt at ease.  The makeup was applied with music playing.  I slipped into the first of several outfits and we did some practice shots and I began to relax and enjoy myself.

During my session as Veronica coached me, I thought about my husband’s reaction.  I thought about how awesome this gift was going to be.  I thought about how much I loved him and how much he loved me, even after all this time.  The session was over before I knew it and it was so much fun!   I was really proud of myself for pushing myself out of my comfort zone and I felt so empowered.  My confidence was through the roof!

When the pictures were ready I could not believe how amazing I looked.  Veronica captured me in so many beautiful moments.  When the book arrived I was so anxious.  When he opened the book he ask me if it was for him or for myself.  I said it is for both of us.  Needless to say, my husband loved the book.  After this session, I realized I needed to stop beating myself up and start loving and appreciating myself more.
