3 Ways to Connect to Your Sensual Self

Have you ever wanted to explore your sensuality but felt embarrassed or ashamed? Don’t worry, connecting your sensual-self is not taboo, and as some may assume, it’s not always associated with sex but once you get comfortable with yourself, it makes sensual sexual experiences even better.

I’ll start by declaring: You deserve to experience pleasure and radiate feminine energy in all aspects of your life. Tapping into your sensuality can be a challenge, especially if you grew up in a conservative family or experienced sexual shame in the past. It’s important to remember that sensuality and sexuality are not the same thing. Embracing your sensuality involves fully immersing yourself (embodying) in experiences that appeal to your senses, whether that’s a favorite scent, silky fabric against your skin, or enjoying vibrant colors.

To get comfortable in your sensuality, you have to lean into the initial discomfort. Fully embody those feelings and press forward into your exploration.

Here are 3 ways to begin connecting with your sensual self.

  1. Create a sacred space where you feel comfortable expressing yourself.
    • Setting yourself up for success is crucial to exploring your sensuality. Set the mood with candles, scents, and music that make you feel good. Remove distractions like phones and computers.
  2. Sensual movement.
    • Moving your body is the perfect way to let go of your inhibitions. Dancing and moving in ways that feel natural can help you rediscover the powerful energy within you.
  3. Self-touch.
    • This is an essential part of exploring your sensuality and there’s no need to feel guilty. We’ll touch on sexual self-touch in a later post because self-touch is easily misconstrued. Self-touch can be something as simple as massage your shoulders, legs or felt. Wrapping your arms around your body in a self-hug. Slowing tracing your fingers up and down different areas or your body and enjoy the sensations you experience. Playing with different fabrics and textures and explore what feels good. Self-touch doesn’t always have to be sexual, and the goal is to connect with your deepest desires and learn what your body craves.

BONUS:

Get naked in front of a mirror and just be.

  • Standing naked in front of a mirror and studying your body will heighten your appreciation for your physical form. Look LOVINGLY as every curve, every lump, every scar. Give yourself some grace. Rediscover the scent and texture or your body so that you can embrace it fully.

Your femininity is a strength. Recognizing that is crucial to exploring your sensuality so take your time on this journey. As you advance to staying true to and honoring your sensual self, you open yourself up to being honest about who you are and how you show up in the world.

I knew that Veronica was the photographer for me when I took a scroll through her website and I could actually FEEL the energy from all the images and I knew that she meant every word written on it.  And on my session day, everything that I thought had been confirmed.  I'll be 50 this year and after having 6 children, it was time to celebrate this body and embrace all the sensuality it offers. Thank you for helping me fall in love with myself all over again.

I had so much fun during my shoot and intially I had booked a shoot to surprise my husband-to-be but I felt like such a bad ass during that shoot, I left feeling sexier than ever and when I saw my photos, my jaw dropped. I could NOT even take myself seriously (in the best way). I can't stop looking at my photos! Thank you, Veronica!

This was my second shoot but the first in her new studio. Veronica has done it again! I got to work with her on my birthday this time around and had another great experience. I felt so comfortable with her and completely trusted her vision. I love the new space (especially the exposed brick) and can’t wait for the next one!

This is something I have always wanted to do but never got around to it. I'm 52 now. I wanted to celebrate where I am in my life. I have been single for the last 5 years and for this first time, I have become truly comfortable with my body and all of my curves. I decided this is the perfect time in my life for this photo shoot.
